RVVP 5×1.0 mm² — Flexible Shielded 5-Core Smart Sensor+Power Cable — Specification
1. Overview & Ratings
RVVP 5×1.0 is a 5-core shielded smart sensor+power cable rated 300/500 V. It uses pure annealed bare copper (not tinned) for both the conductor and braid, maximizing conductivity. The five 1.0 mm² cores are laid up in a circular formation and handle 5-wire smart sensors over longer runs, Modbus RTU + power, and 0-10V with power. The braid suppresses EMI/RFI from nearby VFDs and motors. OD ≈ 10.5 mm, ≈ 95 kg/km (est.), ≈ 6–8 A. Max conductor temperature 70 °C, -15 to +70 °C. Intended for dry indoor smart sensor and small power circuits; for damp or outdoor duty, specify tinned copper variant.
2. Construction Stack (Inner → Outer, expanded)
| Layer / Feature | Build | Function |
|---|---|---|
| Conductor (×5) | Pure annealed Cu, Class 5, 32×0.20 mm per core | R ≤ 19.5 Ω/km, smart signal + small power |
| Insulation | PVC ≈ 0.6 mm per core | 300/500 V dielectric, 5-wire coding |
| Inner sheath | PVC + filler ≈ 0.6 mm | Round bedding for 5-core lay |
| Braid shield | Pure Cu, ≈ 85% coverage | Low transfer impedance for smart sensor + power |
| Outer jacket | PVC ≈ 0.9 mm | Slim, flexible oil/abrasion protection |
3. Electrical Characteristics
DC resistance ≤ 19.5 Ω/km at 20 °C per GB/T 3956 Class 5 pure copper — roughly 25% lower than 0.75 mm², allowing longer sensor runs and small actuator power. Rated voltage 300/500 V. Estimated ampacity ≈ 6–8 A in free air at 30 °C. Insulation resistance ≥ 20 MΩ·km. Routine AC withstand test at 2000 V for 5 minutes. Typical capacitance ≈ 140 pF/m at 1 kHz. The pure copper braid provides ≈ 60–70 dB shielding at 30–1000 MHz. Voltage drop ≈ 1.56 V per 100 m at 8 A — suitable for smart sensor runs up to 40 m.

4. Thermal & Flame Behaviour
Operating range -15 to +70 °C continuous. Short-circuit withstand up to 160 °C for ≤ 5 seconds. PVC insulation and jacket are flame-retardant per IEC 60332-1. The cable is halogen-containing (PVC), emitting HCl gas on burning — avoid in enclosed switchrooms. For public or enclosed spaces, specify LSZH alternatives. The 0.9 mm Type ST jacket is oil-resistant for panel and machine wiring. Note: bare pure copper oxidizes in humid environments — install in dry indoor or conduit-protected locations. UV resistance is limited.

5. Installation Practice & Handling
Minimum bending radius ≥ 6×OD ≈ 63 mm for fixed installation; 12×OD ≈ 126 mm for drag-chain applications. The 10.5 mm OD and 95 kg/km make the cable slim and flexible for routing in control panels, through conduits and along sensor runs. When terminating, connect the braid shield to earth at one end (or both ends per system design) using a shield gland or drain wire. Use small ferrules on the 32-strand conductors. Route the cable away from high-power motor cables by at least 250 mm. After installation, verify insulation resistance, shield continuity and 5-wire polarity before energizing.

6. Typical Service Applications
5-wire smart pressure and temperature sensors over longer runs (20–40 m), Modbus RTU sensor networks with power, 0-10V signal circuits with auxiliary power, 4–20 mA transmitters with separate power and ground, and PLC I/O signal wiring with auxiliary power. The 1.0 mm² cross-section carries slightly more current than 0.75 mm², suiting applications where one core must power a smart sensor or small solenoid while the other four carry signal, compensation, ground and shield. Particularly suitable near variable-frequency drives, servo motors and welding equipment, where the braid shield suppresses electromagnetic interference. Not for: mains AC power distribution, high-speed fieldbus, direct burial, or outdoor UV-exposed runs.

7. Testing & Quality Assurance Regime
Routine tests (100% production): DC resistance, AC voltage withstand (2000 V/5 min), insulation resistance, conductor construction, wall thickness, dimensional check, print legibility, mass per length, visual appearance, and packing. Type tests (per batch / material change): shield coverage, heat aging (100 °C/7 days), cold bend (-15 °C), jacket tensile, flame retardancy, and shielding effectiveness. Every coil ships with mill test certificate, ROHS and REACH declarations. The 300/500 V rating uses a 2000 V withstand test.

| 1. Product Identity & Ratings | |||
| RVVP 5×1.0 is a 5-core shielded smart sensor+power cable rated 300/500 V. It uses pure annealed copper (not tinned) for both the conductor and braid, maximizing conductivity. The five 1.0 mm² cores are laid up in a circular formation and handle 5-wire smart sensors over longer runs, Modbus RTU + power, and 0-10V with power. OD ≈ 10.5 mm, ≈ 95 kg/km. Max 70 °C, -15 to +70 °C. For dry indoor use; specify tinned variant for damp/outdoor. | |||
| 2. Pure Copper Conductor (×5) | |||
| Each 1.0 mm² core is stranded from 32 pure annealed copper wires of 0.20 mm in a Class 5 flexible lay-up. Pure copper (bare, not tinned) delivers the highest conductivity: DC resistance ≤ 19.5 Ω/km at 20 °C — roughly 25% lower than 0.75 mm², allowing longer sensor runs and small actuator power. The 32-wire stranding keeps the cable flexible for panel dressing. | |||
| 3. PVC Insulation | |||
| Each conductor receives a 0.6 mm Type SP PVC extrusion, colour-coded for 5-wire identification — typically red/black/white/green/yellow or brown/blue/white/yellow/green. The insulation provides the primary electrical barrier. Insulation resistance ≥ 20 MΩ·km at 20 °C. | |||
| 4. Inner Sheath + Braid Shield | |||
| The five insulated cores are laid up in a circular formation with round fillers to keep the cable round, then bedded with a 0.6 mm PVC inner sheath. Over this, a pure copper braid is woven at ≈ 85% coverage. The braid provides EMI/RFI shielding for smart sensor circuits and small power currents, diverting interference to ground through the shield drain. | |||
| 5. Outer PVC Jacket | |||
| A 0.9 mm Type ST PVC jacket completes the build, yielding an OD of ≈ 10.5 mm — slightly thicker than the 0.75 mm² version to match the larger core. The jacket is oil- and abrasion-resistant, flame-retardant per IEC 60332-1, and printed with product type, cross-section, voltage, metre mark and manufacturer. For drag-chain duty, specify RVVSP variant. |
8. Factory Advantages
Pure annealed copper conductor at 24×0.20 mm stranding delivers maximum conductivity with Class 5 flexibility. 5-core circular formation eliminates the need for separate cables in 5-wire sensor applications. 0.6 mm insulation and 0.8 mm jacket keep the cable slim and flexible. Pure copper braid at ≈ 85% coverage provides low transfer impedance for sensitive signal circuits. Colour-coded cores prevent wiring errors. 100% routine electrical QA on every reel. Cut-to-length on coils with sealed ends. Lightweight ≈ 72 kg/km for easy handling. Full traceability with MTC and certification support for industrial instrumentation tenders.

9. Packaging, Storage & Logistics
Cut to customer-specified length on export-grade coils, with both ends heat-sealed to prevent moisture ingress. Coils wrapped in waterproof film and corrugated cardboard, labelled with product type, core count, cross-section, length, weight, production date and reel number. Standard lengths 100/200/500/1000 m. Store dry indoor, -10 to +40 °C, below 75% RH, away from direct sunlight and chemical solvents. FOB Shanghai/Nanjing/Qingdao; CIF and DAP available. Sample lead time 5–7 days; bulk production 15–25 days. The light weight makes courier and small-package shipment practical.

Documents: MTC, ROHS/REACH, COO, commercial invoice, packing list.
11. Cable Industry FAQ
Q1: Why 5 cores instead of 4? The 5-core circular formation is designed for 5-wire sensors that need separate power, signal, compensation, ground and shield wires — a common industrial instrumentation configuration.
Q2: What sensors use this cable? 5-wire smart pressure transmitters, temperature sensors, RTD sensors with shield, and 4–20 mA transmitters that require separate compensation, ground and shield wires.
Q3: Can it carry 24 V DC power? Yes — one core can carry 24 V DC sensor power, the second carries the 4–20 mA signal, the third is compensation, the fourth is ground, and the fifth is shield.
Q4: What is the voltage rating? 300/500 V, suitable for low-voltage signal and small power circuits.
Q5: Why pure copper instead of tinned? Bare pure copper has higher conductivity than tinned copper, ideal for low-level signal circuits where every ohm matters.
Q6: Is it suitable for outdoor use? No — limited UV resistance and bare copper oxidize in humidity. Use indoors or in UV-protected conduits.
Q7: How do you ground the shield? Connect braid to earth at one end (or both ends per system design) using a shield gland or drain wire.
Q8: What is the bending radius? ≥ 6×OD ≈ 54 mm for fixed; 12× for moving applications.
Q9: What is the temperature range? -15 to +70 °C continuous.
Q10: What proof ships? Routine AC test record (2000 V) + shield coverage certificate + MTC.
Q11: When should I choose 4-core instead of 5-core? For 4-wire sensors without separate shield, use RVVP 4×0.75. For 5-wire sensors needing separate shield, use this 5×0.75 version.
