RVVP 3×0.75 mm² — Flexible Shielded Signal Cable — Specification
1. Overview & Ratings
RVVP 3×0.75 is a 3-core shielded signal cable rated 300/500 V. It uses pure annealed bare copper (not tinned) for both the conductor and braid, maximizing conductivity. The three 0.75 mm² cores are laid up in a triangular formation and typically serve as power, signal and ground for 3-wire sensors and instrumentation. The braid suppresses EMI/RFI from nearby VFDs and motors. OD ≈ 7.5 mm, ≈ 55 kg/km (est.), ≈ 4–6 A. Max conductor temperature 70 °C, -15 to +70 °C. Intended for dry indoor signal circuits; for damp or outdoor duty, specify tinned copper variant. Not for power distribution or direct burial.
2. Construction Stack (Inner → Outer, expanded)
| Layer / Feature | Build | Function |
|---|---|---|
| Conductor (×3) | Pure annealed Cu, Class 5, 24×0.20 mm per core | R ≤ 26.0 Ω/km, signal-grade current |
| Insulation | PVC ≈ 0.6 mm per core | 300/500 V dielectric, 3-colour coding |
| Inner sheath | PVC + filler ≈ 0.5 mm | Round bedding for triangular core lay |
| Braid shield | Pure Cu, ≈ 85% coverage | Low transfer impedance for sensitive signals |
| Outer jacket | PVC ≈ 0.8 mm | Slim, flexible oil/abrasion protection |
3. Electrical Characteristics
DC resistance ≤ 26.0 Ω/km at 20 °C per GB/T 3956 Class 5 pure copper. Rated voltage 300/500 V. Estimated ampacity ≈ 4–6 A in free air at 30 °C. Insulation resistance ≥ 20 MΩ·km. Routine AC withstand test at 2000 V for 5 minutes. Typical capacitance ≈ 130 pF/m at 1 kHz. The pure copper braid provides ≈ 60–70 dB shielding at 30–1000 MHz. Voltage drop at typical sensor current (5 mA) is ≈ 0.13 V per 100 m — negligible for 4–20 mA and 0–10 V signal circuits.

4. Thermal & Flame Behaviour
Operating range -15 to +70 °C continuous. Short-circuit withstand up to 160 °C for ≤ 5 seconds. PVC insulation and jacket are flame-retardant per IEC 60332-1. The cable is halogen-containing (PVC), emitting HCl gas on burning — avoid in enclosed switchrooms. For public or enclosed spaces, specify LSZH alternatives. The slim 0.8 mm Type ST jacket is oil-resistant for panel and machine wiring. Note: bare pure copper oxidizes in humid environments — install in dry indoor or conduit-protected locations. UV resistance is limited.

5. Installation Practice & Handling
Minimum bending radius ≥ 6×OD ≈ 45 mm for fixed installation; 12×OD ≈ 90 mm for drag-chain applications. The slim 7.5 mm OD and 55 kg/km make the cable easy to route in control panels, through conduits and along sensor runs. When terminating, connect the braid shield to earth at one end (or both ends per system design) using a shield gland or drain wire. Use small ferrules on the 24-strand conductors. Route the cable away from high-power motor cables by at least 200 mm. After installation, verify insulation resistance, shield continuity and 3-wire polarity before energizing.

6. Typical Service Applications
3-wire pressure and temperature sensors (power, signal, ground), 4–20 mA transducer interconnection, 0–10 V sensor signal runs, PLC I/O signal wiring, relay and indicator circuits, and interconnection between control panels and field instruments. The 3-core triangular lay-up is specifically designed for 3-wire sensors that require a separate ground wire — a common configuration in industrial automation. Particularly suitable near variable-frequency drives, servo motors and welding equipment, where the braid shield suppresses electromagnetic interference. Not for: mains AC power distribution, high-speed fieldbus, direct burial, or outdoor UV-exposed runs.

7. Testing & Quality Assurance Regime
Routine tests (100% production): DC resistance, AC voltage withstand (2000 V/5 min), insulation resistance, conductor construction, wall thickness, dimensional check, print legibility, mass per length, visual appearance, and packing. Type tests (per batch / material change): shield coverage, heat aging (100 °C/7 days), cold bend (-15 °C), jacket tensile, flame retardancy, and shielding effectiveness. Every coil ships with mill test certificate, ROHS and REACH declarations. The 300/500 V rating uses a lower 2000 V withstand test than 450/750 V cables.

| 1. Product Identity & Ratings | |||
| RVVP 3×0.75 is a 3-core shielded signal cable rated 300/500 V. It uses pure annealed copper (not tinned) for both the conductor and braid, maximizing conductivity. The three 0.75 mm² cores are laid up in a triangular formation and typically serve as power, signal and ground for 3-wire sensors and instrumentation. The braid suppresses EMI/RFI from nearby VFDs and motors. OD ≈ 7.5 mm, ≈ 55 kg/km. Max 70 °C, -15 to +70 °C range. For dry indoor use; specify tinned variant for damp/outdoor. | |||
| 2. Pure Copper Conductor (×3) | |||
| Each 0.75 mm² core is stranded from 24 pure annealed copper wires of 0.20 mm in a Class 5 flexible lay-up. Pure copper (bare, not tinned) delivers the highest conductivity: DC resistance ≤ 26.0 Ω/km at 20 °C. The fine 24-wire stranding gives the cable high flexibility for panel dressing and sensor wiring. Note: bare copper is intended for dry indoor environments where corrosion is not a concern; for outdoor or damp duty, specify tinned copper variant. | |||
| 3. PVC Insulation | |||
| Each conductor receives a 0.6 mm Type SP PVC extrusion, colour-coded for 3-wire identification — typically brown/blue/yellow-green or red/black/white. The insulation provides the primary electrical barrier. Insulation resistance ≥ 20 MΩ·km at 20 °C. The thin wall keeps the cable slim and flexible, ideal for routing through conduits and along sensor runs. | |||
| 4. Inner Sheath + Braid Shield | |||
| The three insulated cores are laid up in a triangular formation with round fillers to keep the cable round, then bedded with a 0.5 mm PVC inner sheath. Over this, a pure copper braid is woven at ≈ 85% coverage. The braid provides EMI/RFI shielding for sensitive 4–20 mA and 0–10 V sensor signals, diverting interference currents to ground through the shield drain. | |||
| 5. Outer PVC Jacket | |||
| A 0.8 mm Type ST PVC jacket completes the build, yielding an OD of ≈ 7.5 mm — slim and flexible, easy to route in control panels and along machine frames. The jacket is oil- and abrasion-resistant, flame-retardant per IEC 60332-1, and printed with product type, cross-section, voltage, metre mark and manufacturer. Black or grey standard. For drag-chain duty, specify RVVSP variant. |
8. Factory Advantages
Pure annealed copper conductor at 24×0.20 mm stranding delivers maximum conductivity with Class 5 flexibility. Slim 0.6 mm insulation and 0.8 mm jacket keep the cable thin and easy to route. Pure copper braid at ≈ 85% coverage provides low transfer impedance for sensitive 4–20 mA signals. 3-core triangular lay-up eliminates the need for a separate ground wire in 3-wire sensor applications. Colour-coded cores prevent wiring errors. 100% routine electrical QA on every reel. Cut-to-length on coils with sealed ends. Lightweight ≈ 55 kg/km for easy handling. Full traceability with MTC and certification support for industrial automation tenders.

9. Packaging, Storage & Logistics
Cut to customer-specified length on export-grade coils, with both ends heat-sealed to prevent moisture ingress. Coils wrapped in waterproof film and corrugated cardboard, labelled with product type, core count, cross-section, length, weight, production date and reel number. Standard lengths 100/200/500/1000 m. Store dry indoor, -10 to +40 °C, below 75% RH, away from direct sunlight and chemical solvents. FOB Shanghai/Nanjing/Qingdao; CIF and DAP available. 11. Cable Industry FAQ
Q1: Why 3 cores instead of 2? The 3-core triangular lay-up is designed for 3-wire sensors that need separate power, signal and ground wires — a common industrial automation configuration.
Q2: What sensors use this cable? 3-wire pressure transmitters, temperature sensors, proximity switches, and 4–20 mA transducers that require a dedicated ground wire.
Q3: Can it carry 24 V DC power? Yes — one core can carry 24 V DC sensor power, the second carries the 4–20 mA or 0–10 V signal, and the third is ground.
Q4: What is the voltage rating? 300/500 V, suitable for low-voltage signal and control circuits.
Q5: Why pure copper instead of tinned? Bare pure copper has higher conductivity than tinned copper, ideal for low-level signal circuits where every ohm matters.
Q6: Is it suitable for outdoor use? No — limited UV resistance and bare copper oxidize in humidity. Use indoors or in UV-protected conduits.
Q7: How do you ground the shield? Connect braid to earth at one end (or both ends per system design) using a shield gland or drain wire.
Q8: What is the bending radius? ≥ 6×OD ≈ 45 mm for fixed; 12× for moving applications.
Q9: What is the temperature range? -15 to +70 °C continuous.
Q10: What proof ships? Routine AC test record (2000 V) + shield coverage certificate + MTC.
Q11: When should I choose 2-core instead of 3-core? For 2-wire loop-powered sensors, use RVVP 2×0.75. For 3-wire sensors needing separate ground, use this 3×0.75 version.
